While I was in Germany, Inez Fritschy, my teacher, now become my friend, suggested that we collaborate on art pieces between our homes in Berlin Germany and the US. The only rule was that they be gel print on paper.

Oh, I agonized. I gel printed page after page. Nothing seened “just right” or “good enough”. Since I was the first to go I had no idea of what the first layer of a collaboration was suppose to look like.

I finally decided on one that I had printed both front and back and added a circle within circles.

I packaged it up and off it went to Inez for her to perform her magic. She must have gone directly into her studio when she recieved it and gotten to work on it.I recieved in my mailbox today my gel print “transformed”!

A close up of the front she made to join to mine.

She used a 70 year old photo for the boy on the bike.

Inez has joined hers to mine and taken some of the edge of mine to add to the edge of hers.

Then she took some of mine and reversed it so that the back became part of the front.

On the back she printed a map of Europe and along with her signature gave it the title  “Diving round and round in circles”

Excellent!!!

That was so fun and now I look forward to getting to work on the gel print she sent to me. Hmmmmmmmm……..
