From the first time I visted Sydney in 1998 with my mother, I have been in love.
I remember being on a guided tour with her and standing in an area that just captured my imagination with it’s rich history. It seems befitting that my two return visits, last April and again this year would have me staying in the historic Harbour Rocks Hotel.
Built into the sandstone, with the narrow alleyways and historic buildings intact, you can almost hear the voices of those that have lived and worked this area from the time it was first settled
This lovely, historic area sits nestled along the harborside, flanked by modern high rise buildings. But even between those modern buildings in downtown Sydney you will find it’s historic past intact
The Queen Victoria building was originally built in 1898 and refurbished from the eyesore that took up a full city block into a thriving shopping mecca that houses some of the finest shops in the world
The Strand is another refurbished building, originally built in 1891, it houses some of the finest specialty shops, where you can find custom made clothing and handmade shoes
Everywhere you look in Sydney you will find outstanding art. On the streets…
Even hiding in the bushes in the park
You are no more than a walk or a short boat ride to world famous destinations, such as Luna Park
or Mrs Macquaries Point and the “chair” that has been carved into the rocks where she would sit and watch the water for her husband, returning from sea.
