When you mention to fellow travelers that you are headed to Winnemucca they usually screw up their faces and ask “why”?
It’s a casino town and has no other attributes. The reason RVers head there is because it is located in an area that you have pass through and the next available place to find shelter is inconvenient.
There are a lot of laborers of different trades and they can rent long term in a stand alone unit or a unit the same size with 3 different doors going to 3 different rooms. One of the guys was real nice and talkative and showed us the inside of his unit. It is a VERY small bedroom and bath with the double bed pushed up against the wall. No cooking facilities or any other amenities. He was cooking a can of soup on a camp stove outside his unit. I thought “Oh my, Here is a man and his wife working hard all day and coming “home” to this. They are just trying to get ahead.” It made the message so much more powerful.
