We left home after ordering a loveseat for our RV to be custom made by the Amish in northern Indiana. We had an install date of Sept. 17 and we have pushed across the nation to be there for our 9:00 am appointment. Today is the big day!! They are to remove the loveseat that Winnebago provided and install the one that we got fully participate in every detail. We have no idea what it would look like. Even after having been given samples a whole piece of furniture looks a great deal different that that small sample of fabric.

The original loveseat.

After an hour wait we have a new loveseat fully installed!!! We can’t wait to sit in it this evening.

The company that built and installed the loveseat, Lambright Comfort Chairs, is located in Shipshewana Indiana. It is an Amish town. All things Amish.

Literally. I sat and watched horse drawn buggies move along the road as I waited for the loveseat to be installed. It is a town of Amish businesses even the RV park we stayed at the night before the install. It was very clean and tidy but the showers were push button to start the water and it would stop 15-24 seconds later. Seriously! I used the stop watch on my IPhone and it never went over 24 seconds. It seems they are very suave in their business dealings.

We had one of our rare meals outside of Gladys by going to a business in the main part of town.

I asked a teen working outside if it was a sit down restaurant and a man hearing my question came over to us and said “it is EXCELLENT. I have never been disappointed!” He was clearly an “English “ as the Amish call non-Amish people.

The restaurant was full of “English” people. I saw very few Amish patrons.

The man had suggested chicken, bacon, ranch wrapped in pretzel dough. OMG!!! It was too good! We shared one because they are too big for one person to eat.

While we sat there having our lunch we watched the grocery parking lot across the street.  Teen boys would emerge from the store with the patrons to fill the buggy. It was fun to imagine that they had pre-ordered their groceries online and were simply driving up to have them loaded.(hahahaha)

We were going to stop and visit my friend, Mary Hettmansperger after the install but she called and told us that she had been exposed to Covid and was not feeling well. She was not up to seeing us. We always enjoy our times with Mary and look forward to seeing her, all healthy, in the future.

We decided to turn our attention to Michigan. We drove all back roads, staying off the freeways. We didn’t have a reservation. We meandered. We found an RV park that met our every need. We came in tired, from the trip, from the anticipation, from the constant push to get the loveseat installed at the appointed time.

Trees, quiet, nearly empty tonight. Cooler weather. Much more comfortable than we have had thus far.

We will stay 2 nights. Then we will decide which direction we want to go. Now that we have the loveseat we are untethered from any demands on us. We could spin the map and choose which direction we travel next.
