20 years ago I made a “dream board”, Photos of something I wanted to do. My board is all photos of New England in the fall. I keep that photo board in eye site every day.
‘Having been born and raised in Portland Oregon I have always wanted to see the east coast version of my home. My goal was to see the fall colors but also to see Portland Maine.
My goal has been realized! This morning we drove from Augusta Maine into the city of Portland Maine. We always GPS Gladys to stay off freeways, so approaching the city boundaries we came through neighborhoods. We realized that we could not park our 24 ft motorhome anywhere that would allow us to have a Portland experience.
We finally decided to go outside of the city, parked in a Walmart parking, and ordered up an Uber. Our destination was the ferry harbor.
We had been informed that within a short ferry ride from Portland we could visit Peaks Island. It is one of the numerous islands off the coast. These islands are called the “calendar” islands. We took the ferry, rented a golf cart and had a delightful warm, sunny day exploring a place I had never heard of until a couple of days ago.

It was one of those rare days where you wish you could physically hold it and never let it go, never diminish in your memories. Yes indeed. One of those days.
