Yesterday we sat on a ferry, in the sunshine, with no sweater or jacket. The skies certainly looked different than they had yesterday.
We are in a campground in Old Orchard, Maine, right on the coast. Upon waking this morning we got our first view of our surroundings. Last night, after returning in an Uber to Walmart, it was dark and we had to make our way out of town and down the coast. We have never arrived at a campsite after dark. We decided to stay another night, lay low and tour the local area.

Today we are going to explore the local Kennebunkport  area and see the coastline.

First stop was the town of Old Orchard.

It’s a carnival town. The season is over and the town is shut down. During season they have a trolley that comes to the campground and shuttles all the kids and their parents money into the heart of town.

The boardwalk extends 500 ft into to the ocean. It is filled with shopping and eateries but, it too, is closed after Labor Day.

The beaches are sandy and these remind me of the Pacific coast.
Next stop..

There is Kennebunkport which is the coastal area and Kennebunk which is an elegant town with very, very large old elaborate homes.

I would like to say that we got out and walked around but the sidewalks were so crowded that people were stepping into the street. Try to imagine a place to put Gladys!!

As we saw for ourselves yesterday, Portland is a tourist city and multiple cruise ships are in dock on a constant basis. According to the harbor’s website, yesterday had over 7000 passengers out and about the area. Today had 6000+ passengers .

Our view of the cruise ships in port yesterday.

We tried to find a park or someplace off the beaten path to make ourselves some lunch but traffic was heavy. 3 more tourist buses passed us on our way out as they went into Kennebunkport. We wanted to find  someplace quiet, out of traffic to make a sandwich.

We found someplace.
It just happened to be a cemetery.
After we had our lunch we decided it was time to head back to our campsite and maybe get a nap
